The Arduino Uno is the most popular microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P and a perfect introduction to electronics and coding as It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM), 6 analogue inputs, USB B connection, 7- 12V barrel jack, reset button and an ICSP header. Simply connect it to USB or via a DC wall adapter 7-12V DC to power the board. One benefit to this board is that the ATmega328P chip itself is actually removeable so if you accidentally let out the magic smoke (even the pro's do this from time to time) you can always replace it for a low cost, great!
